Alright, here’s the reveal! We showed you our design plans back in THIS POST.
And then showed you a little DIY project I did for some over the crib decor:
Some before action…
And now, here’s the finished room!
I thought that Connor’s room turned out pretty dark and cool, but I really love this one. The rug is really the star here. It really set the tone for the rest of the room, and the greigey wall color totally balances it out! I’m still in disbelief that I found that 100% wool rug for $70!! on a Facebook resale page. What a find.
I do admit, though, that I’m not 100% in love with the dresser and nightstand (they were hand me downs from my parents that we’ve had for YEARS). I just couldn’t bring myself to just outright buy another one at this point and figure out what to do with/sell these. They’re not quite the right finish to attempt to refinish them either; they have a weathered finish to them and a black top. Plus, I don’t really have the energy for that right now anyway. Hence, me not looking for any secondhand ones either. They’re a little more orangey than I prefer, but I can deal with them for now.
As I said before, we reused the lamp, crib, changing pad, and glider all from Connor’s room, since he transitioned to a big boy bed now. I really had no desire to leave the glider and lamp in there for him to play with haha.
I was on the hunt for the perfect fabric to make a crib sheet and changing pad cover for the longest time, until a friend showed pictures of her nursery with this beautiful Target sheet and cover!
This is the crib sheet and this is the changing pad cover. They’re a cotton-muslin material and they’re going to get softer with every wash, so I’m excited.
The curtains are so beautiful, they feel really luxurious and soft. But the price I paid for that? DRY CLEAN ONLY. Sigh. Please ignore the creases hahaha.
I also picked up the table lamp from Target. #TargetFanGirl
I’m still thinking of adding a small bookshelf, maybe over here on the wall to the right of the closet (I have something in mind!). Connor’s book shelf is probably his most heavily used piece of furniture in the room, so I know it will come in handy. If my kids grow up loving books and loving to read, then I’ll be one happy mama 🙂
Peek-a-boo!! Connor already loves playing in “Baby Sisser”‘s closet.
And then, for the less than stellar, blog worthy photo… the closet!
Don’t judge haha. One day I’ll make it look pretty and organized. Not a priority right now! By the way, see that psychedelically painted wooden storage piece? I made that with my Dad when I was a tween for all of my shoes. I can’t believe I’ve had it for all of these years, but I love that baby girl will have it now <3.
If you can’t tell, we’re super excited for her to join us! I joked with David that this time, we’re actually going to be prepared for her to join us, and she’s going to probably come late instead of 3 weeks early like Connor. We definitely won’t be building the crib after baby girl’s arrival!
I guess in a way, she helped, though. I built the crib back up in her room with my super pregnant belly. 😀
At the time of this post, I’m just about 37 weeks pregnant. We shall see what Baby Girl has in store for us! Personally, with the way I’ve been feeling lately, I think she’ll be an early one too. But, I officially consider us ready 🙂 Well, I still need to pack that “go bag”. I don’t know why I always save that until last. I think it makes it feel too real that this could be happening soon.
Wish us luck!
